The MSU-IIT Annual In-House Review of Research and Development Projects is an activity conducted by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Enterprise through the Office of Research Management, to serve as a venue for the discussion of the results and findings of R&D projects and identification of potential technologies already matured for patent application or implementation, among others. The conduct of AIHR also serves to promote the culture of research in the University.Â
Guidelines and House Rules of the Annual In-House Review of R&D Projects
I. Oral Presentation Guidelines
Venue and Schedule:
Oral presentations for Biological and Chemical Sciences and Engineering will be held on the 4th floor of the PRISM Building.
Oral presentations for Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences will be conducted on the 3rd floor of the PRISM Building.
Presentations will start promptly at 1:00 PM.
Arrival Time:
Presenters are required to be in the main venue 15 minutes before their scheduled session to check their presentations with the personnel in charge.
Presentation Duration:
Each Oral Paper Presentation is allotted 15 minutes, followed by a 5-minute session for Question and Answer (Q&A).
Time Management:
A timer will be used to signal the presenter 5 minutes before the allocated presentation time ends.
Early Completion:
If a presentation ends before the allotted time, the Q&A session will start immediately.
Open Forum:
An open forum will be conducted for additional questions and clarifications from the panel of evaluators and the audience if time permits.
Mandatory Attendance:
All presenters must attend the opening program and remain until the Awarding Ceremony and Fellowship Night.
II. Poster Presentation Guidelines
Venue and Schedule:
Poster presentations will be held at the Gymnasium.
Poster Placement:
Posters must be placed on the designated poster panel board corresponding to their assigned number.
Poster Dimensions:
Posters should have dimensions of 76 cm (30 inches) width x 101.5 cm (40 inches) length.
Setup Time:
Poster boards will be set up in the gymnasium ahead of time.
Display Deadline:
All posters must be displayed by 8:00 AM on October 11, 2024. Posters not displayed by this time will be disqualified.
Presenter Attendance:
Poster presenters must be present at their designated posters during the judging period to address any questions from the evaluators.
Mandatory Attendance:
All poster presenters must attend the Awarding Ceremony and Fellowship Night after the presentation sessions.
III. Awards and Recognition Guidelines
Oral Presentation Awards:
There will be two (2) winners for each category (First Place and Second Place).
Poster Presentation Awards:
There will be one (1) winner for each category in the Poster Presentation.
Cash Prizes and Certificates:
Cash prizes and certificates will be awarded to all winners.
Participation Certificates:
Non-winning participants will receive certificates of participation.
Minimum Rating Requirement:
If there is only one (1) entry in a category (oral or poster), the entry must achieve a minimum rating of 85% to be recognized as a winner. Otherwise, no prize will be awarded.
IV. After Presentation Guidelines
Awarding Ceremony and Fellowship Night:
After the presentations, all participants are required to proceed to the Gymnasium before 6:00 PM for the Awarding Ceremony and Fellowship Night.
Fellowship Night Participation:
All presenters and participants are expected to stay and participate in the Fellowship Night activities.
V. General Conduct Guidelines for Presenters and Participants
Respectful Interaction:
All participants should engage in discussions respectfully, especially during the Q&A sessions, to promote a positive and professional environment.
Adherence to Schedules:
All presenters must adhere to their allocated schedule to ensure smooth event management.
Professional Decorum:
Presenters should maintain professionalism and follow proper decorum throughout the entire event.
NOTE: Please be reminded that all presenters must attend the presentation sessions, and the Fellowship Night to be eligible for awards and recognitions.
